This morning I traveled out of my garage and immediately noticed the ruby sky turning to blue as the sun was rising over the Western Carolina mountains. I thought to myself: If I wasn't blessed enough to live here I would move here! My day was filled enjoying the views of the Hiawassee River and the Fires Creek Mountains along the way as I drove through Brasstown's John C. Campbell Folk School and onward to the neighboring town of Hayesville. After moving through Hayesville I traveled Tusquittee Road and just got my breath taken away by the beauty of the Tusquittee mountains and Tusquittee Creek! I am sure where most folks live is pretty but in the Western Carolina Mountains we take the beauty of our surroundings for granted not! We count our blessings and enjoy them everyday! I just thought I would share.................

I was sitting in my RE/MAX Mountain Properties office a few minutes ago when I heard a helicopter flying very low and coming right over the top of the RE/MAX building. Upon further inspection I realized it was the medical helicopter. It landed in the vacant field next to the office and was soon among an ambulance, firetruck and other law inforcement vehicles which had arrived. In a few minutes, the very efficient personnel on scene had loaded the patient from the ambulance onto the helicopter and it lifted off on its trip back to Chattanooga. All of this made me start thinking about how fortunate we are to live in a rural setting surrounded by these beautiful, remote mountains, which are now beginning to show the first signs of Spring, and still be within minutes of some of the best medical care anywhere around. So if you've wanted to have a home or second home here but hesitated because of lack of medical facilities, keep this incident in mind. The daffodils are starting to show their beautiful color as the days get warmer and its all about new beginnings as Spring is just around the corner. Hope to hear from you if you have been thinking of coming to these terrific Western North Carolina mountains near Murphy, Andrews or any of the other friendly mountain communities nearby. Just call or email if I can be of any help to you in your search for a home. Sherry McCollum, Associate Broker with RE/MAX Mountain Properties Toll free 1-877-837-3002 Email: Sherrymccollum@remax.net

Worked this weekend in beautiful Graham County NC, Home of the Tail of the Dragon, Lake Santeetlah and Lake Fontana. Stayed at the best Rental Cabin, that had a roaring creek with an outside and inside fireplace that crackled my worries away. Went up on the best Trout Stream in Western NC; Little Snowbird Creek, and looked at a gorgeous waterfall and pond that a seller had put in and was it awesome. Met a land developer from Hernando Florida and a property owner that showed me the best Creek Lot on Little Snowbird and he also told me about another one in Snowbird Woods in Big Snowbird. There were several jeeps and hybrids cruising the trails that I was fortunate enough to be able to travel. The sun was bright and I got some great pictures. Hiked up another large track of land off the Tail of The Dragon, that had an old farmhouse , the land bordered United States Forest Service, which added value to the parcel . Had dinner in Fontana Village and enjoyed the ride through the Hell Bender. Saw several fishermen on the lakes I passed and the day did not seem like work; more a peaceful day enjoying the view of our beautiful Smoky Mountains. It is HEAVEN to live where work seems like a vacation. I will try to eat at the Snowbird Lodge and the Blue Boar Inn the next time I'm in Robbinsville, NC . Everyone should know that there are hidden jewels here in our Mountains. Signed Dex Hubbard Sr. , Broker

I consider myself to be an expert on Real Estate here in Murphy, NC area. I have spent a great deal of money and time to get my education and experience. That said: I would never consider going into a strange area or new area to me and purchasing property without a Realtor! I want representation. When you own the property is not the time to discover that you have a problem. Did I pay too much when I bought? Am I getting enough when I sell? Many times in a by owner deal the answers to those questions are not appealing and worse yet there might be a problem with the property that might have been discovered by a little direction of a pro.
Did you know that almost all of the time the seller pays real estate commission? So by finding the property on your own, listed by an owner you put yourself in an unrepresented situation to make one of the largest investments of your life and have you saved money? Seller pays commission right? We will represent you for free and have the seller pay our commission. We will work hard to get you the best deal on a View Lot, Mountain Cabin, or commercial property we can find. We will assist you through negotiation, investigation of the property and title, and closing so you have a free and clear title.
So, next time you are in Murphy, stop by and say hello and don't make a big mistake when you are here.

I just wanted to let everyone know how I enjoy the weather here in Murphy. we do have all four seasons. They just are not as severe as other locations. This winter has seemed colder than usual, but I have only had two mornings when I woke up to single digit readings on my thermometer. The past two days we have nearly reached 70 degrees. We had many people enjoy the local golf courses. When it is warm and bright, we can still enjoy the beautiful mountain and lake views.
Since the leaves have fallen, we also get to see a number of homes that are hidden in the spring, summer and fall. It almost seems like a different place; still beautiful, just different. This is a great time of year to look for either homes that are for sale or that perfect lot or acreage. You can see what your place will truly border.
Wish you were here.

Great time to buy. Interest rates are low, market prices have declined, sellers are motivated or fact of the matter NEED TO SALE or are at the point of having to sale. Deals are here , Creek Properties (Trout Streams), panoramic mountain view lots are being offered below appraised value, lake lots are also available below appraised value, and large tracks of land are being offered at considerable savings. Our office has several properties that have an attempted quick sale in place with bank's approval. As you can see the time to BUY is NOW. Existing house sales were up nation wide in December 2008 so I believe our market is beginning to rise, so don't let this opportunity pass you BUY.

The Real Estate Market in the entire United States took a nose dive over the last two years, our stock market has had an effect on several peoples lives in a negative way. House sales are up this month so the tide is turning. The market here is prime for the picking. Motivated Sellers are everywhere. Our local Banking Institutions are still able to lend money and Owner Financing is one of the tools that is also helping people obtain houses and land. We have a diversified pool of properties along with very knowledgeable Brokers to assist anyone looking for a Home, Commercial Property, Farm, or parcel of land to build on later. I am also working with people looking to buy property to hold as they are not wanting all their investment portfolio in the Stock Market, which in my opinion is wise planning. Our Mountains, Lakes, Trout Streams, and Valleys are waiting for you. Come pick the fruit while it is ripe. Signed Dex Hubbard SR: Broker:Remax Mountain Properties.

We have just celebrated our annual Appreciation Day to say thanks to all who have helped us become number 1 in sales of mountain properties in western North Carolina. It was a beautiful day and several hundred people came to celebrate with us. Some of my guests are even taking me out for diiner and keep talking about how much they enjoyed it. The kids had a great time with the magician and clown. They also enjoyed the air toys and burned up some of their energy. Several of the braver ones actually went up in the RE/MAX hot air balloon. It was great. If you missed it this year, let us know and we will invite you to next year's celebration.
